Birthday Bonus

If you read my blog regularly, you might have noticed that I consistently post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  I've been known to make slight adjustments for major holidays or an extra crazy travel schedule, but for the most part you'll find an update here on those three weekdays.  I don't have much control over the rest of my schedule, so it's comforting to know that I'm in charge here on the blog.

Today is Tuesday, so why am I posting?  Today is my birthday, and I decided it would be the perfect day for the monthly giveaway.  And since it's my birthday, I'm making this a bonus month by picking 2 winners.  Double the fun all around.

Leave a comment with an update on your knitting progress.  Or mention a pattern or yarn that's caught your interest.  Or share what you plan to work on over your summer vacation.  The winners, chosen at random, will each receive a skein of yarn of their choice from Dirty Water DyeWorks.  The contest closes on Monday, June 30, 2014.

One other bit of news.  The fall issue of Knitscene was released yesterday, and one of the designs uses my Clara yarn.

Block Island Sweater is designed by Allyson Dykhuizen, and she chose one of my favorite color combinations.  This issue is full of fun and interesting designs.  I'm sure I'll be browsing more later today.

That's all for this birthday edition.  Back to your regularly scheduled Tuesday . . .

Happy Birthday! I hope it's all you want.

My knitting progress is slow--the baby sweater is coming along, but otherwise I'm suffering from project stagnation. It'll probably be better this fall, when I get more excited about choosing a sweater to knit!

I have been looking at your yarns and would love to design something with Oma's Organic. Great price and lovely colors!

Happy Birthday.

I had to frog 3 cardigans that I've been working on since I've lost 29 pounds since last year. It's good but sad since it takes me forever to knit cardigans.

Happy Birthday!!

I've decided to make myself a few sweaters this summer. Not exactly the right knitting for the season, but I'll be glad when fall comes and I have something cosy to wear!

May the Birthday Fairy bring you good health and good times throughout this year!! My knitting consists of just socks at the moment. I do need to start working on a sweater or two for this winter but my mojo seems to be on holiday! :-)

Happy Birthday!

I'm currently turning the heel on the first sock in a pair of Brainless, knit out of Huckleberry Knits Willow base in a lovely blue and green combo. In doing so I'm procrastinating on finishing my Grace cardigan out of Kollage Riveting cotton. I only have the bind off, some ends to weave in, and the buttons to sew on. I ought to force myself to do that tonight.

Happy Birthday! Currently I have many projects on the needles, but not much time to work on them. The main ones that are being worked on is my pendulum and my whispers top.

Hope you had a nice birthday! I just started knitting a shawl, TGV, just a few rows in...

Happy Birthday! Hope this is your best year ever.

Socks for my guy. While technically I have knit socks before, I don't really understand the mechanics of the heel and have had numerous tinking sessions with these. I am eager to get these done and start on more, more, more socks!!

A belated happy birthday. You had a perfect day here in Boston - warm, but not too warm; breezy, but not too breezy. My current knitting was a flurry of gift knitting for my son's tutor and a colleague moving to another school. I have to give you thanks for introducing me to knitspot patterns. I did a quick tidal sands, so much fun I'm going to cast on another soon. (recently also rattled off movie night socks and a matterhorn hat, scarf, mitten set) Enjoy another beautiful day.

Still working on a Color Affection shawl and eyeing the PDXKnitterati Garland shawl (pattern, yarn and beads bought). I do recall seeing a shawl at your booth recently and don't recall if I bought the pattern or wrote the name down - need to find notes from that one (house in chaos due to new flooring being installed-aargh!) I would love to have a skein of yours to knit the pattern in question. And Happy Belated Birthday!!!

Working on a TTL Mystery Shawl reminding me of how much I love lace knitting.
More baby and toddler knits to come once I decide on patterns.

I'm finishing that skirt I've mentioned and working on a vest for myself and a cardigan for my father. I'm currently fascinated by Goodbye Iona.

Happy, happy birthday! Thank you for letting us in on your celebration. The pattern that recently captivated me is Biscotte's Sheep - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/biscottes-sheeps---les-moutons-de-biscotte. I'm new to color work so they definitely will be a challenge. Thanks for the giveaway!

Happy Belated Birthday. I have been behind all week. Knitting goes well. The pattern I have my eye on is Curiouser and Curiouser by Laura Linnamen.

I just finished the back of my Draped Lace Shell and am excitedly working through the front. This will be my first garment for me, and I can't wait to put it together and wear it. After I get that off the needles, or maybe before, I intend to start on a summery poncho or shrug to wear with all the tanks and sleeveless dresses I own. Hooray for summer knitting.

I'm currently doing some marathon-style knitting, trying to crank out a POP blanket for a wedding gift for a close friend. Each piece is mindless and no big deal, but it's the assembly that has me cringing. Wish me luck!

I've been trying to finish a baby blanket since April. I finished the knitting, but I'm afraid of the many ends I have to weave in. Instead of working on that, I've been casting on everything else I can think of.

I've been very selfish do far this summer and knit myself three cotton t-shirts. Love them ;)

First time reading your blog- Happy Birthday all month!
I am trying to finish a baby blanket for my first granddaughter. She was 2 weeks late (born 6/24/14) but I'm still not done! It's done in mitered squares, in a Peruvian organic cotton, but I forgot that I needed some borders!

No project monogamy for me - working on "Fires of Industry" (in unpredictable Noro), my Walk for Hunger sock, another shawl whose name I forget, and there are probably a few more. And we will not discuss the Hitofude that I plan to start, and the second half of the famous Swan Lake mystery that I want to make happen. I consider it job security...

I'm doing the Airflow non mystery KAL on Ravelry. To keep me busy between clues I'm also going to be knitting some smaller projects. Right now it's a cowl, then I'll be working on some socks for my best friends birthday present.

In my two weeks off between regular school teaching and summer school teaching I finished a Brickless scarf and sent it off to my sister for her birthday - just made it in time. Back to stockpiling knitted gifts for the holidays in December. Why do I start every January thinking I'm actually going to get all I want to do done by December? - a triumph of hope over reality.

I'm obsessed with linen this summer, working on a summer bag, and picking the next project for some variegated linen. Also a baby blanket for charity.

After seeing Biellese in your booth at the CT Sheep and Wool Festival this spring, I made it in Lillian using Moonshadow and Apricot colorways. I'm super pleased with the results.

Hope you had a fabulous Birthday. Happy Belated Birthday. I was eyeing your shawl kit and I think I will. Order it after I place this comment. I'm so glad to have met you at the Knitting Lab but was even more surprised to hear that you are a neighbor of mine in Arlington. Lived there since I was married 33 years ago. I am presently working on a top which is really simple. Look forward to my shawl pattern and yarn in purple colors. Ta also want to sign up for the yarn knot. Talk soon!

It is late Sunday evening and I am just finishing up putting the bed frame together and putting mattresses on it. Moving is exhausting and taking away from my knitting. I started a shawl using Dream In Color Wisp. It is lovely lace weight and I hope to have time this next weekend to work on it. I hope your birthday month was ab fab!
