Classic Ribbed Hat

I'm still on a hat kick over here.  I finished one and packed it up for mailing only to realize I forgot to take a picture.  I also finished a sample hat, but I managed to grab a quick shot before the light faded completely.

This is Classic Ribbed Hat (Ravelry link).  I held Lillian with Shimmer, both in Byzantium.

This is my new favorite hat pattern.  I have another hat in the same pattern on the needles now.  My daughter requested it, and it's almost finished.  After that, I'll probably make one for myself.  After knitting all these hats, I deserve a new one.

Short Row Kit & Class

There's a new Kit & Class on the schedule!

Explore short rows with Hélène Driesen and knit Toph (Ravelry link).  Hélène will discuss different short row techniques while guiding you through this hat pattern.

Kits in a variety of colors are available on the website. The Zoom class is February 15, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.  See website for all the details.

During the dark, grey days of winter, we could all use a little sunshine.  This week's color inspiration . . .

Lost Days

I seem to have lost a couple days this week.  Monday is a complete blur, and Tuesday isn't much better.  Today I'm functioning and back at it.

I finished one hat last week and was ready to move on from hat production, but I spoke too soon.  A couple     knit-worthy people have requested hats, so that's my knitting focus at the moment.

This one is working up quickly, or maybe it's just the cheerful color.  I can't seem to put it down.  It's definitely a bright spot on these grey days.

In case you couldn't make Farm Fiber Day last Sunday, here's a little video clip of the booth.

It was great fun, and we're doing it all again on March 5. I'll post details when it gets closer.

Hat Update

I'm scrambling to pack for Farm Fiber Day on Sunday but thought I'd check in quickly with some knitting content.

Last Sunday was National Hat Day, so to celebrate I cast on a new hat.  This project is actually much further along now, but the lighting is so challenging today I'm not going to attempt pictures.  You'll just have to take my word for it when I say I'm deep into the decreases.  This hat will be off the needles later today.

If you're headed to Farm Fiber Day, stop by Booth 14 and say hi.  I'll have this hat on display along with plenty of other samples.

My new mug gave me this week's color inspiration.

Sample Repeat

Every once in a while I knit a pattern twice.  Either I find the design extremely enjoyable or I want to play with color combinations or I want a different size.

And sometimes the original is on loan to a shop and I need another one for a sample. That's what happened in this case.

This is my second Summer Soundtrack Cowl (Ravelry link).  I worked with different colors and enjoyed it just as much this time around.  Slip stitches make for easy, relaxing colorwork.  There are many fun color combos. For this cowl, I used Lucia DK in Moon Shadow and Jadeite.

We'll have this sample at Farm Fiber Day on Sunday. Stop by Booth 14 (across the aisle from our location last year). We'll have hand-dyed yarn, knitting kits and yarn bundles plus plenty of samples on display.

Spinning My Wheels

I spent several hours yesterday and today trying to tweak a pattern, and I finally realized it's not going to work.  Or it's not going to work the way I want it to.

Late this afternoon I scrapped my original plan and moved on.  In a matter of fifteen minutes I found a new pattern on Ravelry.  That was easy.  Why did I wait so long?  Sometimes stubborn determination gets in the way of a simple solution.

I did manage to get one project off the needles.

The ends are woven in on this cowl, and it's blocked.  In spite of the wasted hours, it's been a productive week.

Yarns and Yarns!

It's the first full work week after the holidays, and I don't know how it's Wednesday already.  I'm working on several lists right now, and there just aren't enough hours in the day.

I stumbled across this event and thought some of you might find it interesting.

Yarns and Yarns!  This is a virtual knitting circle with stories about Shetland.  I'm intrigued, so I signed up.  The event is free.  Follow the link for more information.  In case you're not aware, Newfoundland is 1.5 hours ahead of Eastern time.

I haven't had time to take any progress pictures, so I'll leave you with this.

A glimpse of what's next on the needles.

Weekend Momentum

Sometimes all a knitting project needs is a little momentum.

Over the weekend, I worked on pieces of this project and joined everything in the round.  Smooth sailing ahead.

Now that this project has picked up steam, I don't want to work on anything else, but I will have to set it aside for a bit.  A couple priority projects with deadlines need some attention first.

Sophie Shawl . . . Again

The first one was so much fun, I had to knit it again.

Sophie Shawl (Ravelry link).

This time I used From the Bog.  Lucia DK (2 skeins) held with Shimmer (one skein).  If you're searching for a relaxing project, take a look at this pattern.  After knitting two of these shawls, I thought I'd be ready to move on. But maybe not.

If you want to see this sample or the Dusk version, stop by Farm Fiber Day on January 22.  I'll at be Russell's Garden Center with an awesome group of vendors.  Stay tuned for more details about specific booth location.

This week's color inspiration is sure to brighten any grey, winter day.

A splash of colorful cheer.

One Down

The year is just a few days old, and already my first finished object of 2023 is off the needles and blocking.  I'll share some pictures when it's dry.

It's hard to get back into the swing of things after the holidays.  I've done a bit of dyeing the last couple days and am slowly ramping up production.

Since I finished one project, I have the green light to cast on something new.  While I plot and plan, this simple ribbed hat is keeping me company.
