Finishing and Starting

My extra knitting time is paying off.

In case you're wondering, this is Bendy Arrow (Ravelry link).  Yesterday I realized I'm almost finished with this shawl, so this morning I spent time on Ravelry.  This afternoon I'm contemplating color choices.

Long holiday weekends are perfect for starting new projects.  Whether you're making it a long weekend or celebrating one day, enjoy the holiday break.

Virtuous Knitting

I started a new sweater project the other day, and I can't put it down.

The back is up and running, and I've taken care of both shoulders.  Now I'm working on the front.  I've already made a similar sweater, so the construction is familiar. Add big needles to the mix and this project is flying.

I feel very virtuous working on a new fall sweater in late June.  With any luck this will be ready to wear when the leaves start falling.

No Travel, More Knitting

Since I don't have any travel in the coming weeks, I have extra time on my hands.  That can mean only one thing. More knitting time.

I started the weekend with this and made quite a bit of progress.  Plus I worked on another project too.  I'll have project updates as soon as I manage to get some pictures.  Hope you had a good weekend too!

Proper Swatches

We just had a long holiday weekend, and I had a little extra time on my hands.  I started thinking of new projects and that led to swatching.

I couldn't pick just one yarn, so I tried two.  It's always informative to check out the options.

The swatches aren't finished, but I think I know which base I'll use.  Sometimes it's tempting to measure gauge while the swatch is still on the needles, but it's best to have proper finished swatches.  I'm going to be diligent. I'll wash and block them before I settle on one.

After that, I'll pick a color . . . so many decisions.

A Spark

Last night I was finishing a project and felt a sudden spark of excitement.  It was time to consider a new     cast-on.  Often I have a project idea that's screaming for needles so I don't have to give it much thought.  This time I had to poke around a little.

The last couple projects were shawls, so I decided to mix it up with a cowl.

I settled on a pattern, and the rest was easy.

I'm slowly shifting to a summer routine, and that's behind this week's color inspiration.

Masgot

As promised, a project off the needles and blocked.

Masgot (Ravelry link).

More fun with garter stitch and stripes, but this time there are a few contrasting short row sections.  This shawl is a relaxing project with a little action to keep things interesting.  The yarn is Lillian in Juniper, Cool Waters and Ginger.

This sample (along with several others) will be on display Saturday afternoon at Yarn's End.  Stop by and take a look.

One More

Before I shift to FOs and new projects on the needles, I have one more event to promote.

If you're on the South Shore, I'll be at Yarn's End on Saturday afternoon.  There will be yarn and samples on hand plus a little giveaway.  Stop by and enter for a chance to win.

I've heard there's a new KAL happening at the shop.  This will be a fun opportunity to chat about yarn and colors. See you there!

Knit in Public

The day is slipping away, but I have just enough time to check in with a quick announcement.  In case you missed it, Saturday is World Wide Knit in Public Day.  I'll be at Salt Yarn Studio in the afternoon with a pop-up shop.

With any luck, the weather will cooperate, and we'll be sitting on the lawn.  If you're on the Cape, feel free to join us.  We'll be knitting, crocheting and stitching.

We're also running a little giveaway - a few skeins and a Salt Yarn project bag.  Stop by and enter for a chance to win.
