On the Fly

I'm having a bit of a week.  The other day I commented that I had a short work week. Thank goodness it's short. Little did I know it would be a week filled with glitches.  I should have had an inkling things were going sideways when I had some computer issues over the weekend. That was only the beginning.

Yesterday my truck ended up in the shop, and today some dye equipment conked out.  All of these situations can be remedied, but it means my work plan for the week is out the window and I'm sorting things out on the fly.

I finally sat down at my desk this afternoon.  I'm recharging with coffee and this.

The tax paperwork is at the top of the heap.  Before I crunch any numbers, I'm knitting a couple rows.

Feeling Motivated

I have a short work week, so I'm trying to maximize my time.  The dye pots are on, and I have a huge (and growing) pile of yarn waiting for labels.  In the last 24 hours, I've had some tech difficulties and a laundry mishap, but I've still managed to knit a few rows here and there.

This is my Stay Soft Shawl (Ravelry link).  I finished the stripe section and have moved on to solid garter.  The border looks interesting, and I can't wait to get to that part.  It's good to have a little motivation.

Just a Reminder . . .

It's been a busy week, so today I'm just checking in with a quick reminder.  Fiber Marketplace is happening next Saturday.  This event is held at the Union Bluff Hotel in York, 10:00 - 3:00.

The Yarn Seller is hosting the market, and they're also running some special events at the shop.  Be sure to check the website for details.

I don't know about you, but I have big plans for this weekend.  I'm off to get organized.  Enjoy!

Garter Stitch and Short Rows

Stripes are definitely a personal favorite, and most of my current knitting projects involve them in one form or another.  Take this shawl - garter stitch stripes and short rows.

This project was on a brief break.  Sometimes counting can be challenging, and I needed a chunk of time to focus on my numbers.  The other day I made some time for the short row section.  Now I'm back to mindless knitting and stripes.

Mesmerized by Stripes

I didn't have a show this weekend, but the days still flew by.  I spent a lot of time working at my desk, but I did manage some knitting time here and there.

I started a project with this new colorway.  I'm still working on the name, and I got a few suggestions on Instagram.  If you're feeling inspired, drop a note in the comments below.

After this picture was taken, I started the stripe section, and I don't want to stop.  I'm completely  mesmerized. Stripes are my jam.

Leprechaun

In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, here's an update on my green cowl.

Algebra (Ravelry link).  Oh, and the color is Leprechaun in our Lucia DK.

This pattern offers three sizes, and I'm making the tall one.  I'm in a groove and am past the halfway point.  That means I can plot a new project.

I'll be using these three.  I'm still not sure about the order, but I can sort that out on the fly.

I'm relying on my traveling daughter for this week's color inspiration.

Burnt orange and colorful flags.

Coming This Spring . . .

This week the weather is blustery, but the calendar says spring is right around the corner.  I've updated the right sidebar with a couple spring fiber events coming next month.

First up is Fiber Marketplace on April 1.  This event features a fun mix of vendors and is held at a beautiful location in York, Maine.  The Yarn Sellar hosts this event and will also have activities and specials going on in the shop.  Be sure to check the website for more information.

We're dyeing several fresh colors for the season and of course there will be some new samples too.  Stay tuned for more spring updates.

Late Winter Colors

It's late winter, and my color choices are shifting a bit. Greens and yellows are very appealing right now plus lighter, brighter shades of pink and teal.  And normally I'm not a pink person.

I was playing with yarn choices over the weekend, and now I have a colorful collection scattered all over my office.  I need to make some decisions.

In the meantime, I got this project on the needles.

I enjoyed knitting the Algebra sample (Ravelry link) so much I decided to make one for myself.  In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, I'm using a green . . .  Lucia DK in Leprechaun.

Cast-On Party

This week has been a race.  There were a few obstacles thrown in my path, but I can finally see the finish line. And the weekend!

Since I don't have a fiber event this weekend, I'm planning for bonus knitting time.

I'm also working on another combo.  Once I finalize the colors, I'll be casting on that project too.  I don't have many projects on the go right now.  A little cast-on party is definitely in order.

Algebra

I finished a cowl last week . . . just in time for Farm Fiber Day.

Algebra (Ravelry link).  I thoroughly enjoyed the rhythm of this design.  The combination of knits and purls create a textured diamond pattern.  It had me whispering again and again, Just one more round.

The pattern offers three different sizes.  This one is Tall, and it took two skeins.  The yarn is Lucia DK, Sunflower. Take a look at this pattern if you need an entertaining, portable project.

Just a Glimpse

Another successful Farm Fiber Day is in the books.  It was a fun, busy day all around.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth.  It was great to see such a good turnout.

I didn't have time to take too many pictures, but here's a glimpse.

The schedule for spring fiber events is coming together. Stay tuned for updates.

Juneau Shawl

We're rolling out a new sample this weekend.

Juneau Shawl (Ravelry link) will be on display Sunday at Farm Fiber Day.  We'll have a well-stocked booth with plenty of samples for ideas and inspiration.  Look for us in Booth 14 - the same space we had in January.  You'll find all the event details here including a complete list of vendors.

One more note.  This shawl was made with Lillian in Sea Glass, Sea Green and Raspberry Fizz.

One More Round

Sometimes you get a knitting project that's hard to put down.  Just one more row, you whisper to yourself. That's the kind of project I have on the needles right now.

I'm easily amused.  This cowl (Algebra - Ravelry link) has an entertaining mix of knits and purls that are creating a fun diamond shape. Plus every other round is plain knitting.  I enjoy watching the pattern emerge, so I keep knitting.

Just one more round . . .
