Weekend Send-Off

It's a holiday weekend here in the States, and for many that means it's a long weekend.  This weekend signals the start of summer, and it feels like many people around here have been in vacation mode since Wednesday.  For me, the holiday means I'll try to squeeze in a little extra knitting time.  I'll even move it outside and knit on the porch if the weather cooperates.  I lead a very simple life.

To celebrate the holiday weekend and the end of May, I'm running the monthly giveaway.  Simply leave a comment and let us know what you're working on this weekend - knitting or otherwise.  The winner, chosen at random, will receive a skein of yarn from Dirty Water DyeWorks - winner's choice.  The contest closes on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

Speaking of porches, I wish mine looked like this.  All it needs is a couple Adirondack chairs.  My color inspiration this week is all about wood.

Different shapes, forms and colors.

Trying to clear up my house. Daughter is due for surgery soon and I will have a 3 year old grandbaby here, while she is recovering. I may get some knitting done soon but not while little one is with me. When grandbaby goes down to sleep so will I ;)

I'm working on a shawl. I purchased the pattern at Webs in Northampton, MA several years ago. I'm finally knitting it with yarn from my stash.

I'm working on a rectangular cabled shawl/oversized scarf, and...if it quits raining will do some planting in the garden.

Working on a pair of Socks for Travelling Through Space and Time. Picked up the kit during my annual yarn shop crawl. Thought it would be boring but the stripes keep it interesting.

Working on some charity hat/scarf sets--ongoing project--and I just finished the AeRang shawlette (a free pattern on Rav). My first lace project and I loved it. Now I am doing a HeartStrings pattern (reversible eyelet cables stole) for my SIL. This lace thing could be habit-forming.

I've got two different small shawls OTN at the moment, one is almost all garter, with just an easy lace edge, and the other has a slightly more complex lace border on a stockinette body. AND there's a pair of socks that just need their toes kitchenered. :) Thanks for the chance to win! (akbooklady on Ravelry)

I live in Arizona but I love to knit sweaters so currently on my needles I am making a sweater for my sister who lives in New Hampshire!

I've got a few projects on the needles, but I'll probably be focussing on a pair of Pieces of Eight fingerless mittens and yet another pair of sport-weight socks.

I'm working on a Ravi Jr baby sweater, from a kit I bought from you in Rhinbeck. My knitting circle and I so love the sweater that a number of us may make adult Ravi sweaters.

I've come back to sewing after a long hiatus - new skirts to wear to school! Now I want coordinating shawls. Why do restaurants crank their air conditioning so cold?

Working on the Sweet Bunting Cardigan for a colleague due with her 4th child in July. On the second sleeve & loving how fast kid's wear knits up!

End of the school year means I'm mostly working on grading tests and projects. But when I can sneak in some knitting, I have a Matterhorn scarf to finish and a basic pair of socks to occupy me.

Currently on my needles, socks! I hope to soon start sweaters for my brothers grand sons, the East Aran Pullover. Plus planting my porch garden. Spring is finally here!

What's not on my needles, eek! Working on a blanket currently as it's the easiest pattern for surgery recovery knitting. No shaping, no fit to worry about, not even a bit of measuring to do. Just knitting. And occasionally some lace to keep me sane.
