The Bonus Round

Time marches on.  Another year has come and gone, and my birthday has rolled around again.

It's time for the monthly giveaway, and this year I'm going to celebrate my birthday on the blog the way I did last year.  June is the bonus month, and I'll be picking 2 winners.  Leave a comment and include your Ravelry ID.  What's on your needles now?  How do you celebrate your birthday?  What's growing in the garden?  Or any other comment you want to add to the mix.  The winners, chosen at random, will each receive a skein of Dirty Water DyeWorks yarn.  The contest closes on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

Once again I've deluded myself into thinking there are more knitting hours in the day than there really are.  I signed up for Corrina Ferguson's Mystery KAL.  One clue each week for six weeks . . . I should be able to squeeze that in, I told myself.

Well, we're two clues into it, and I'm woefully behind.   By the way it's not too late.  The KAL has been quite entertaining so far if you feel like jumping on board.

I'm trying to let go of the feeling that I'm back in school with a final paper hanging over my head.  Today I'm catching up on my homework.

I have the MKAL on my needles! I'm loving the IPA color and I can't wait to see how it plays with Sea Breeze. But I am also behind and so it might be a while before I get to see the colors together.

What's on your needles now?
Well, I have yarn wound for the same MKAL you just talked about - but I haven't cast on yet because I'm woefully behind on two other MKALs at the moment! (Shetland Trader MKAL and Kelbourne Woolens MKAL). So a little bit of shame is on my needles right now.

Thanks for the chance to win! I'm ShadowAP on Rav.

I currently have 21 projects on needles. Some have been on needles for a couple of years. Cardigans are the worst for me. There are 2 scrap blankets so those don't real count. I have one design piece that I need to finish up. :) Ravelry ID AtPlayWithFiber Happy Birthday!!

Happy Upcoming Birthday! Mine's in July and I have HUGE PLANS - I'm going to do everything I can to ignore it, forget it, avoid it and deny it. I live in an apartment with a few neglected houseplants, but I've been giving Mom's yard a major overhaul this year. Thanks for another generous giveaway. I have a pair of slippers for Mom and a sweater for me on the needles, but the further along I get on the sweater, the less I like it, so it will go to a homeless shelter. KittenWhiplash on Rav.

I am currently working on a sample knit. It's great because it gives me a chance to work with some lovely yarn, try some new techniques, and earn some money to buy more yarn!! Win-win! We've been enjoying the kale, squash, and lettuce for our garden so far. Can't wait for the Ichiban eggplant!

Happy Birthday! I don't have a garden, just a few houseplants I try to keep alive. I hope to plant some herbs, too, and some cat grass to keep the furry ones away from the plants and herbs! ~klynnknits on Ravelry

I finished a pure cashmere sweater, but then I got overeager trying to dry the ribbing, stuck the hairdryer too close and... well, let's just say neither the hairdryer nor the ribbing survived the experience. I cut off the ribbing, picked up all the stitches, and am now reknitting the ribbing from the top down, hopefully significantly longer than it used to be.

Happy birthday! I am fortunate to have a birthday twin at work. We go out for a nice lunch together, and then I'm off to dinner with my husband, followed by cake at home which is shared with our cat. A pretty happy day overall :)

Currently on the needles: Saco Stripes tank in linen for the summer.

Happy birthday!! I have way too many WIPs on the needles right now. It looks like I'll be able to finish one tonight, though. It's Newsom cardigan by Bristol Ivy, which has been a really fun knit because of the unique construction.

Happy Birthday!! I've been taking a week off from knitting - tennis elbow flare up - but my next project will be matching hats for a friend who recently got married. Same yarn, different patterns.

For my birthday, I think I'm going to take a few days off and plan to do some knitting outdoors. I may add some extra special yarn purchases :)

Hippo Birdie 2 Ewe! Hope you have time for some birthday knitting! I have a summer jacket in Euroflax Chunky on my needles. And I have bunches of things in time out. I need to make a few swatches and try overdoing them with coffee or tea to try and match the skein already involved. The course of true knitting never does run smooth! Wish you best of luck with your mystery in progress!

Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy your day! I love spending my birthday with my mom, my husband and 2 grown up daughters. The ideal would be a weekend on the Cape at the beach with my knitting needles. Presently I am working on the Naxos Shawl. It is named after one of the Greek Islands in the Agean Sea. I am going to Greece this summer and Naxos is very close to Paros which is the island I will be staying on with my family. I am planning on visiting Naxos for a day and when I saw this shawl I just had to make it. I have a summer birthday also and this year I have requested my Cape Cod getaway. I don't have a garden because presently I am living in a condo. But I like cactus plants for indoors. It's good because they need such little water and that's not my strong point.

Happy Birthday month! I have several projects close to being finished - Miss Winkle scarf by Martina Behm, another scarf, and a chunky cowl waiting to do the Kitchener finishing. Just visited the Knit Wit yarn shop in Portland the other day and have started a cowl called That Nice Stitch which is really easy and pretty.

My needles are particularly busy right now...Not only did I join Corrina Ferguson's Beachy MKAL (with very lovely to work with DWD yarn, Lillian...love it!) but then added on Jennifer Wood's Cosette sweater KAL, in addition to the Shannon Squire's KAL that was already ongoing! Whew! But I love it...since I'm not at work (I'm a classroom assistant during the school year), I can work more towards my stitching in the summer...

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Right now on my needles are a linen stitch hat from handspun (BFL from the lovely Casey at Port Fibers in Portland), a lacy shrug from some old viscose I've had (this needs me to measure the lace length, I think I'm done, block it, and stitch it to the back and it's done), and a couple of old wips... a linen-cotton summer sweater that I wasn't sure I loved the yarn for, and a lovely boo shawl in time out (dayam those martinis at knit night and fancy beaded lace... this needs to visit the frog pond and be restarted). I have two skeins of DWDW yarn caked up for color-work mittens, and will start them when I finish the two active projects.

We have all sorts of stuff in the garden... have been eating lettuce, kale, spinach, but also have potatoes, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, beets, carrots, celery, eggplant, raspberries, and a humongous patch of blackberries. Come on over!

Oh, knitnzu in Ravelry

Speaking of Corinna, I made her Biellese using your Lilian in Apricot and Moonshadow. I got the yarn from you at the CT Fiber Fest a year ago (not this past spring). It gets rave comments wherever I go. Love the combination of pattern and yarn. You can see it on Ravelry under LoonyNuna. Right now I'm working on Fiddleknits Earth MKAL and really enjoying it.

I only have a pair of socks (so square pattern) and a sweater (on your toes) on the needles. I'm hoping to have lots of knitting time this summer. So hopefully more as the summer progresses. Weeds grown in my garden, so it seems. My birthday is in October, so I like to spend the day snuggled under a quilt, drinking tea, and knitting. LilyD on ravely

Am getting ready for 2015 TDF.
Also using some of your green yarn in a weaving.

Happy belated birthday! I put the needles down for a minute (just a linen stitch rectangle underway to be sewn into a bag for some Tarot cards). Mostly I've been crocheting some simple but lovely tablecloths.

I also just began weaving on a little tapestry loom, which is extraordinarily zen, as I tend to get too caught up in making a project "just so". With the weaving, I can play with colors and textures and not feel obligated to create a very specific piece...at least, not yet.

Yesterday was my birthday, and my husband's two days before that, plus we celebrate our anniversary at the same time, so for Birthdayversary we went on a nice tour around inland and the coast of California with our three dogs.

And prepping for TdF, for serious this year. Thanks for asking! Can't wait to share some projects.

Happy Belated Birthday - I'm working on a pair of socks - what else is new!! Using my handy pair of circular needles (#2) with Cerulean - Lillian. I was lucky this year and went to Texas to celebrate my 50th birthday with my college friends - a great way to celebrate that we are alive at 50 and doing our own things but still connected in many ways. #gratitude

Too much rain and so much gardening to do! Soggy and muggy and full of mosquitoes outside. But gives me a chance to sit by the window and knit and dream of sunny skies. Currently knitting a shawl/scarf with Habu Textiles silk-wrapped paper from Purl Soho. Very unique! Simple pattern on size 6 needles, I think. Enjoyed reading many of the other comments.

See you in Oct. at Rhinebeck!!!

Happy, happy birthday! I hope it was wonderful. I am currently knitting the Honey Cowl - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/honey-cowl - using locally raised (Three Oaks MI) alpaca fiber. I also have a pair of socks in progress using the Sideswipe pattern - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sideswipe. It's my go-to sock pattern, I can't knit it enough.

Happy belated birthday! My birthday is in February, so I like to have lobster, and something chocolately for dessert. I also buy myself yarn for a sweater, needles or a new knitting bag. What's on my needles? The front of my cabled pullover. I wish I had a garden, but I don't. If I did, I would grow tomatoes, basil and have a couple of rose bushes. Ravelry: MsEwe

Happy Birthday! How wonderful to be born into a world with YARN (because I'm sure that in some distant galaxy, there is a world without yarn, what a sad prospect). Currently on needles I've got a sweater (my second go at the same pattern - learned a lot from my mistakes), a scarf (my first project in cotton), a capelet (sounds like something a super hero would wear) and a birthday gift for my husband that I've been attempting to finish for the past 3 birthdays (I've still got 'til October 19th - ever hopeful).
