July Giveaway

I tried to take pictures to post project updates, but life has conspired against me.  I have my work cut out for me, but I should be able to straighten things out over the weekend.

All is not lost.  We'll go into the weekend with another monthly giveaway.  Leave a comment. Tell me what's growing in your garden, where you went on vacation, what's on your knitting needles.  Is anyone planning fall knitting projects?  The winner, chosen at random, will receive a skein of yarn from Dirty Water DyeWorks - winner's choice.  The contest closes on Friday, August 1, 2014.

I have Nezinscot Farm to thank for this week's color inspiration.  I saw this fiber art at an event this spring, and it made me smile.

I need a pair of red shoes.

We've got tomatoes coming out of ears and are trying to sprout the pumpkins in the garden. We are skipping vacation and remodeling the original 1950s master bath, the shower was never tiled! & I'm trying to know a Jackaroo sweater from Knitty but the soaring temps & lack of AC make that less and less appealing.

I have three sweaters and a shawl on my needles, and I'm looking for a cool and funky yarn for a very cool mittens, hat and scarf pattern set that I found in one of my mother's old knitting books from the 50's.

I've got nothing but green tomatoes in my garden (why won't they turn red?????), a sweater that's itching to be off my needles (it's so hot in my lap right now!!!!!), and no vacation in sight. Next up is a blanket for my (hopefully soon to be) new house!

There's a baby robin growing in my garden...spotted the little guy this morning. Must have fallen from a nest.
Little projects on the needles right now: hats are great summer knitting!

What's growing in my garden is weeds. I never got around to planting anything this spring. What's on my needles is a pair of socks. And I don't think I'll take a vacation this summer, instead I'll save up to head somewhere sunny after the Oregon rains come back in October.

The berry time has just about finished (blueberries, currants, black raspberries) with no more veggies planted this year :( No knitting happening due to bilateral wrist surgery last week. Hopefully will be back in the swing after casts off, then splints and then comes some therapy time for a few weeks. Can't wait to start of some grand daughter knitting and a shawl pattern I bought from you (maybe CT show or Rhinebeck.)

No garden for me. I can't seem to keep anything growing here in AZ and I couldn't kill anything in Vancouver, Canada. I always have too many WIP. We only did a short trip to Tucson this summer. We are planning for Disney World next year.

I'm working on a summer vest for my sister, some socks, and a lacy shawlette. Everything else will have to wait till summer heat goes away. The good parts of summer that I am enjoying a lot are fresh veggies from my farmshare, trips to the beach, and summer music and theater events.

Getting ready to go on vacation at the end of this week. I will get to see my Mom and my sister and her family. As to what is on my needles.. Too much. I have two pairs of socks, 2 shawls, one cowl. I really don't change up for the seasons. I just knit.

We have our first red cherry tomatoes! The sunflowers are also in full bloom. I'm currently finishing a hat and some mitts, with my eye on the final piece to the Aidez cardigan. Thank you for the chance to win one of your lovely skeins.

I feel I will never see another vacation again - it's been almost a full year since my sweetheart and I got on a plane for 6 months of world galavanting. This past weekend we drove all of 3hrs to get to the family beach house. And it was too windy for him to dive for seafood. Thank goodness we'll be going down again at the end of August for his Grandad's birthday.

I have tomatoes, cukes, and peppers, red and green growing in my VegTrug garden. I love it, limits my garden so that it doesn't take tons of hours to maintain, so I can knit my sweaters. I have a Cabeladabra on my needles at the moment but thinking of a stripey shawl to cast on. I want to use my mini skeins I got at the NH Sheeo and Wool Festival.

I picked my first zucchini and made a yummy zuke and pesto pasta for dinner last night - yum! And friends have been giving me squash, cukes, peppers and sweet corn. I'm inundated! I'm waiting for my first tomatoes though. I have one turning red and plenty of green ones. Meanwhile, I'm knitting socks. Always.

We are growing dahlias for competition in our garden this year! And volunteer gourds are growing huge, lovely vines out of our compost pile. I have the Surry Hills sweater by Maria Magnasson on my needles, as well as some mindless knitting in the form of 'Color Affection' and also a baby bunting for a giveaway. Those are the things on needles that come to mind! Trying to enjoy these last few weeks before school/work starts back up...

Nothing in the garden - finally got rid of some old plants but never replaced them. That's maybe later this moth. I do have a pair of socks on the needles, and a Pendulum shawl in your Lillian Yarn in Boston Strong colors.

TDF kept me busy all of this month!
