Celebration Contest

Some projects are worked in phases.  For example many sweaters are knit in pieces - back, front, sleeves.  Once the pieces are done they are assembled to create the finished garment.  It's kind of nice to work on a project this way - it's not as overwhelming.  You work on smaller, manageable pieces, and in the end you have a whole sweater.

Creating the Dirty Water DyeWorks website has been like working on a sweater.  It's been worked piece by piece, and each piece has been added to the website. Yesterday the last piece was completed.  The garment is finished.

Paula is now available on the website.  This yarn is 100% Superwash Blue Faced Leicester, 100g / 410yd.  Paula has a wonderful luster that produces rich, vibrant colorways.  Stay tuned.  There are more yarn lines coming, and they will be added over the next couple of months.

In case you're wondering the yarn lines are all named for women in my family.  I started with four yarn lines named for my grandmother and her three sisters.  Paula was my grandmother.  Great-Aunt Bertha taught me how to knit when I was a young girl.  Great-Aunts Lucia and Julia rounded out the first four lines.  All four women were strong, independent and creative in their own way.  Lillian, another great-aunt, was recently added to the mix.

To celebrate the completion of the website I'm running a contest. Leave a comment and share what's on your needles.  It's always interesting to find out what others are working on.  The winner, chosen at random, will select a skein of Dirty Water DyeWorks yarn.  The contest will close on Friday, December 17.

My color inspiration for this week reminds me of twisted strands of yarn.

Party pink.

Congratulations on your new website! Right now I'm working on the final Christmas present for 2010: socks for my husband. After that I have my eye on approximately 15 other projects for my "Selfish January Knitting". :) Congratulations again, and happy holidays! ~Dina

Lots on the needles right now - Ondule, Ishbel, Les Abeilles, Chicklets socks, Port Ludlow socks and I'm thinking of making a keyhole scarf for my daughter.

While I *swore* that I wasn't going to knit Christmas gifts this year, I currently have 2 gifts on the needles (the Playful Stripes Cardigan for my 1-y-o goddaughter, and The Rustic Cables hat for one of my guy friends), and I have a handful more in the queue!

I am hoping to have my Lighweight Pullover off the needles by the end of the weekend, then there are Endpaper mitts, Lady of the Lake; and then the forgotten ones - the Positano Tote, the red shawl, etc, etc.
So excited to see more of your yarn.

Right now I have a baby sweater, two scarves, and a mystery project from my Mystery 220 group on Ravelry on the needles. At least that's all I'm owning up to :)

Oh, just a scarf for DS #2, another scarf (mindless knitting for those kinds of moments); felted monster that will be either covers for the arms of the chair or yet another felted bag... but you know about all these!

There is also a shawl with a dropped stitch in the cast off waiting to be fixed... another shawl with a braided edge waiting to be braided... a pair of mittens from three strands of sock yarn... another pair of mittens needing new thumbs...

And that's just the ones I can recall!

Glad the website is up and running... Good for you!

I am knitting a scarf using Anna's pattern:

The graph is the next post after this one if you want to use it. It really is lovely and unlike anything I've seen; easy too! My yarn is a wool/angora blend but sure feels scratchy! I hope it softens once washed and blocked!

Currently I'm working on a ribbed hat for my Dad & 2 pairs of socks - Pinata and TartLime. It's been fun watching your new venture step by step, good luck!

Right now I'm finishing up Christmas knitting; a pair of Moulin Rouge mittens for my sister and some socks for my husband. When those are finished I'm going to do some knitting for me! Starting of with the Leaving sweater and Curling cowl and mitts.

Congratulations on the getting the website up!

I have a lace scarf, men's socks, and crocheted bag going right now. I'm teaching myself to crochet, so the bag is very simple. By the way, love the website!

Glad to hear things are progressing for your business! I'm finishing up a Cobblestone Sweater (Jared Flood) for one son (having both sons away at college makes the surprise knitting easier to get done), a pair of mittens for the church mitten tree, Skew socks and Monkey socks (both Knitty patterns), and a sweater for me that is languishing - can't remember the name, but it is a Debbie Bliss pattern. Oh, and I've been knitting mini-sweater ornaments from the Knit Picks holiday kit. If I just didn't have to go to work, I could be finishing them all so much faster! -- Cate

Oh, I'd love to win some of your yarn. On my needles are the last 'circle' of a log cabin blanket I've been working on in between everything else for a year. It is amazing how much the stitches add up. Halfway through the first of the 4 sides, I have 15000 stitches left before the edging. The whole blanket is more than 125000 stitches.. it is mindboggling but close to completion. Just the final stretch...

I'm working on Levee by Cecily Glowik MacDonald for my SIL. Her birthday is at the end of January, so I should have it done by then. For me, I have Anne Hanson's Curling neckwarmer and still plugging away at Watershed by Amy Swenson. Oh, and there's partial mitten (with the second mitten syndrome pending), and a Knitting Pure and Simple cardigan. Plenty, too, in my queue:-)
