Random Again

Last week I was random on Wednesday, and this week it's more of the same.

~ If you enjoy a mystery KAL, see what Corrina Ferguson is cooking up.

She's using Lillian for her project, and I'm offering a discount on yarn orders.  The fun starts on June 11.  You'll find more details on the PicnicKnits Mystery KAL page.

~ May is almost gone, and that means it's time for the monthly giveaway.  Leave a comment and tell us what you're working on. What colors are you knitting with?  Do you have any book or podcast recommendations?  I'm always looking for suggestions.

The winner, chosen at random, will receive a skein of Dirty Water DyeWorks yarn - winner's choice.  The contest closes on Monday, June 1, 2015.

~ Speaking of giveaways, the winner of the newsletter gradient bundle giveaway is Cindy S. If you want to receive the newsletter, sign up here.

~ Finally, a little quiz to test your knowledge of knitting around the world.  Just when you thought you knew it all . . .

What colors am I knitting with? Well, I'm near finishing a pair of green socks out of Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock, about halfway thru a purple hap out of Huckleberry Knits Cascara Lace, and about a third of the way thru a teal linen top out of Quince Sparrow. What are my favorite colors listed in my Rav profile? " teal green, purple " Rarely do I manage to have all the above on my needles at the same time. Podcasts? The hap is for the KnitBritish audio podcast hapalong, and I recommend it.

I'm trying really hard not to start new projects when I have a bunch that I started in 2013. I'm knitting with all kinds of colors but my favorites are purple, blue and red. I don't really do Podcasts so I don't have suggestions.

I'm working on a fair isle cowl as a sample knit for a yarn company. The colors are blues and tan and it's very pretty, but I'm waiting for the day that I can work on my own (multiple) projects-one of which will be with your gradient set in blues! Can't wait!!

I am drawn to bright jewel colors right now--to reflect my mood with the warmer weather. Winter? What's that?

I'm working with jewel colours on one project and I'm still working on an autumnal project too. I work slowly!

I am just finishing up a vest I did for the first Harrisville Designs KAL. It has 10 bazillion ends to weave in; easy but makes me crosseyed! I'm done with the knitting. My next project is a mystery shawl KAL that I am looking forward to.

I have a new book that I am finding inspiring to read through. It is Anna Zilboorg's Splendid Apparel, a handbook of embroidered knits. Its just plain beautiful!

Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway!

I'm knitting a vest for my brother that I promised him three Christmases ago... I'm sure I'll finish it eventually....

I'm loving that the Canary Knits podcast is back - she's a cool indie knitting pattern designer with an aesthetic I like.

Starting back on a Downton Abbey KAL that began in January. Knitting Hiatus due to hand surgery - complications - therapy etc. Things (hand function) becoming somewhat more normal and hoping to begin a long period of knitting. Would love any give-away from you, Stephanie. Enjoy some time to relax off the show circuit and see you again in the fall. Judy11 on Rav

Patterns I'm knitting at the moment- so square socks (knitspot pattern), on your toes (sweater by green mountain) and sugared violets. I'd second All the Light You Cannot See and add Life after Life. I also listen to the podcast The Moth. Amazing stories, great to listen to when knitting.

I'm currently working on an Aestlight shawl in two colors - a grayish blue and a great maroon-ish color. And, only ten years or so late, some Jaywalkers! And a sweater dress for my daughter. And...OK, I'll stop there. :)

I am finishing a shawl in a deep green while I wait for Corrina's MKAL to start. Also have a cardigan waiting in shades of green blue and purple with a bit of red tossed in. And a list of other projects a mile wide. Between books and looking for a good beach read.

My default color is blue :) but I've noticed that I've been buying a lot of pink lately!

Have you ever listened to "Wait, wait, don't tell me?" it's an NPR podcast. Informative AND funny. It makes me laugh every week.
