My Best Guess

Tomorrow I start three days of trunk shows, and today I've been pulling inventory.  A little of this, a little of that . . . it's hard to know what to bring.  I'm trying to include plenty of color options.

Even though I'll be out and about, the dyeing process is still running in the background.  Here's a peek behind the scenes.

This Shimmer is almost dry, and then I'll replace it with more wet yarn.  The production line keeps moving even when I'm not here.

At My Desk . . .

Show prep continues and today I decided to tackle kit packaging.  It's been on my list for a while.  I'd even done some research a few weeks ago but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Fast forward to late September.  It turns out that many packaging styles and options are out of stock with no backorder available.  More fallout from the pandemic, I'm sure.  When I saw that same notice on several websites, I realized I needed to make my decisions today.  I nudged a couple things off today's to-do list and got busy.

It took most of the morning, but I finally found packaging that will be perfect.  And it was in stock.  After all that computer time, I've earned a little knitting break.  How's your Monday going?

On the Calendar . . .

It's finally Friday, and I'm wrapping up the week with a little calendar update.  Next week is the Greater Boston Yarn Crawl, and I'll be visiting a couple shops.

Thursday @ A Garden For Knitters

Friday and Saturday @ Another Yarn

If you're in the Boston area, see the website for a list of participating yarn stores.  This is a good opportunity to support the local shops.

Also next weekend . . . Virtual Vermont Sheep and Wool.

Be sure to check the website for all the action.  I'll have a live Zoom session on Sunday, 11:00 - 1:00.  Follow the link for all the details.

Long Days and Stripes

I think I've finally recovered from the trunk shows last week.  I had a busy couple days on the road, and then I kept it going with extra activities on Monday and Tuesday.  It was a string of long, long days.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the shops.  It was fun to see so many knitters in person.  Now I've shifted gears . . . back to dyeing and samples.

And I'm still knitting stripes.

Just a Glimpse

It's that time of year.  I'm working my way through lists for show      prep . . . all day, every day.  Plus I'm adding a few new kits to the lineup this fall.  Here's a peek at one of them.

To add to the fun, one of the kits will have a new base.  I'm trying to keep things interesting.

All the Details

Tomorrow I'm on the road with a trunk show, so today I'm packing yarn, kits and samples.  I'm also gathering all the little extra things I'll need for the day.

I'm working from a list so hopefully I won't forget anything too important.

Tomorrow's stop is at Salt Yarn Studio, 11:00 - 4:00.  On Saturday,    I'm doing the same thing except I'll be at Plymouth Harbor Knits,            11:00 - 3:00.

This is all part of the Cape and South Shore Yarn Haul.  There are eight participating stores, and they each have special activities, prizes and discounts for the event.  If you're in the area, check it out.  It's a great opportunity to support local yarn shops.

Pops of Color

Some projects take a little longer to get up and running, especially if there are several colors.  I have a new project I've been eyeing for a couple months, and this weekend I took some time to organize the colors.

Harpers Ferry.

This project has six contrasting colors.  I knew the starting color and also the two on the end.  The middle three were holding me up.  Now that I have a plan, the rest is easy.  Little pops of color . . . I'm hooked.

All Stripes

These days I have a few projects in my knitting rotation.  That means I work on one, put it down, work on a different one, put it down.  And so it goes.  Moving between projects helps relieve any boredom, but it also means I don't finish anything quite as quickly.

This stripey cowl is still on the needles.  Lately it's been my designated desk project.  Colorful cheer and mindless knitting . . . the perfect combo when I'm working at my desk.

Last weekend I had an itch to cast on something new, and this project was at the top of my list.

Another cowl.  This one uses a Half Pint Bundle.  And yes, there are stripes.

These days the farmers' market is busy and full of produce.  This week's color inspiration . . .

Tomatoes . . . golden and orange.

Midweek Scramble

Like many people, I'm scrambling to shove five work days into four.  It's the price we pay for a long weekend.

I have just enough time for a short update today.  If you're looking for a fun fiber activity, take a look at Pigskin Party (Ravelry link).

This annual fall event is hosted by Jen from Down Cellar Podcast.  There are teams and prizes and all sorts of goodies.  I'm a Pro Shop Sponsor and have created an exclusive colorway.  The kickoff is tomorrow.  Follow the Ravelry link for all the details.

There are still a few openings in Yarn Knot, our quarterly club.

Pick from several bases including a new yarn option.  Each shipment includes pattern suggestions and goodies.  The first installment ships later this month.  Follow the link for more information.

The timer on the dye pots is going off.  That's all for today.  I promise a knitting update in the next post.

Maintaining

I didn't mean to step away from the blog for a few days, but                that's what happened over the last week.  No, I wasn't away on vacation - although that sounds lovely.  Just had my nose to the grindstone.

I spent my days working through one dye list only to find another      "to-dye" sheet waiting in the wings.  There's still no end in sight.  I have a schedule to keep and am somewhat on track.  Between dyeing like crazy and all sorts of planning . . . well, I'll see how it all pans out this fall.  I'm maintaining.

Most of my knitting focus at the moment is on two projects that are in the round.  I've been knitting a few rounds here and there whenever I get time . . . and resisting the urge to cast on a couple more projects that also have priority status.

This sweet little hat is coming along nicely.  I'm past the initial ribbing and have moved up three needle sizes.  Now it feels like I'm flying.  The bit of blue on the edge is waste yarn from the tubular cast on.  I just haven't taken time to snip it off.

This weekend is the last blast of summer, and fall knitting can start in earnest.  Cheers!
