Used Equipment

Things are getting a little hectic around here.  One of my many lists went missing this morning, and I almost lost it. I spent way too much time tossing the contents of my desk and work table all the while muttering choice language to myself.  The list had gotten wet (everything is wet when there's a lot of dyeing going on), and it was stuck to the back of another list.  Crisis averted.

A little info plug for those of you going to Vermont Sheep & Wool this weekend.  This year the festival is holding a used equipment sale.

This is a great opportunity to pick up an item that's been on your wish list or to get rid of something you're no longer using.  You'll find all the information you need on the website.  Note the sale is only running on Saturday.

Remember you'll find our booth in the Vendor Pavilion. And now I'm off to consult one of my many lists.

Not Too Bad for a Monday

My schedule can be a little crazy, and Mondays are definitely challenging.  It reinforces my notion that there aren't enough hours in a day.

Today, however, is a great Monday.  This morning our new washer was delivered.  I wasn't expecting it today, so it was a pleasant surprise.  We've been dealing with this laundry situation for two months, and I've made most all of the laundromat runs.  My time is extra tight in the fall, and I'm delighted to give up that chore.

On the knitting front, I double checked my Love Note (Ravelry link) progress this morning and realized I'm ready to bind off.

Two sleeves and a neckline are all that stand between me and the finish line.  After this morning, I'm feeling very hopeful.  Bring it on!

From the Sorting Pile

I'm heading to Vermont Sheep & Wool next weekend, so the last couple days I've been sorting inventory.  I have a couple projects ideas on the back burner.  Doesn't everyone?  This combination landed on top of the sorting pile, and I decided it would work for one of those projects.

This project wasn't a priority, but now I'm excited to cast on.  Maybe it will even happen this weekend.

Signs of the season are everywhere.  This week's color inspiration . . .

Fall Combo

I have a lot of dyeing going on these days, and I'm a little backed up with piles (mountains?) of yarn.  Drying is slow on humid days, and the humidity has been creeping up again.  I try not to obsess about the weather forecast, but I really hope the humidity clears out and lets in drier air.

This was a random color combination when I was processing skeins last week.

Tomorrow is the autumnal equinox, and this combo seemed appropriate.  Happy fall!

A Bit of Brioche

The weekend was busy and flew by, but I managed to squeeze in some concentrated knitting time.  Knitting a little bit here and there eventually gets the job done, but there's nothing like focused knitting time to really make a dent in a project.

I'm having fun with brioche.  This is All About That Brioche (Ravelry link).  People often balk as soon as they see a pattern has brioche.  I'm trying to encourage knitters to at least give it a try.  This shawl has a couple brioche sections - not a big commitment.  Brioche creates a squishy, stunning fabric.  Give it a whirl and add to your technique tool box.

Moving into Fall

It feels like someone flipped a weather switch.  Fall is definitely in the air now.  I'm popping in with a quick promo for Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival.

This fiber gathering takes place on the weekend of October 1 and 2.  It's a beautiful time of year to be in Vermont.  Look for our booth in the main vendor building. Be sure to check the website for a complete list of vendors and activities.

This week's color inspiration is a mohair combo for the season.

Finding Momentum

I finished a couple projects recently and have shown great restraint by not casting on several new ones.  That's allowed me to focus my knitting time on the two main projects currently in rotation.  Yes, just two.  I know.  It's a novel idea.

I've made decent progress on the larger project.

This Love Note (Ravelry link) was my exclusive weekend project.  Since I don't have that many projects on the go right now, I've been knitting a few rounds here and there during the week.

I've made this sweater several times already, and I'll admit pattern familiarity makes for a quick knit.  I've split for the sleeves and am well on my way to the bottom ribbing. Maybe I'll wait a little longer to cast on something new.  Momentum is building to get this sweater off the needles.

Finishing

Fall shows are right around the corner, and I feel pressure to finish a couple samples.  Here's proof that I had a productive weekend.

Finishing is so satisfying.  Off the needles on Saturday, blocking on Sunday.  I'll have more pictures in another post.

Free Shipping

What a historic week!  It's the end of an era in the UK. And it's been a short week, but I somehow managed to cram a lot of work into just a few days.  I plan to share some knitting updates next week.

In the meantime, I'm running a little promotion again on the website.

The free shipping offer starts today (Friday) and runs through Sunday.  No code needed.  Head over to the website and plan your fall projects.

Here and There

I'm back at it after the holiday weekend.  While the dye pots are on, I'm able to squeeze in a few rounds here and there.

I have a hat on the needles just for this purpose - easy to pick up and put down.  Plus a small, contained project will be finished in no time.

Winding Down

It's a long holiday weekend, and summer is winding down.  This week I've even felt a hint of cooler weather in the early morning hours.

Be prepared.  It seems the fall season is always fast and furious.  But for now, enjoy a peaceful, quiet weekend!
