Experiments

I'm delighted that my calendar is full of winter fiber events.  These events give me an excuse to experiment with new samples, kits and yarn.

My latest experiment.  This combo is on the needles, and so far I'm happy with the results.  I have a couple other experiments under construction.  Stay tuned for updates.

A Simple Affair

Last Sunday we had a great time at Farm Fiber Day.  The market was bustling, and it was wonderful to see so many happy, creative fiber people.  If you missed it, we'll be doing it all over again on March 9.  More about that later.

I had a fresh sample on display.

A Simple Affair (Ravelry link).  This design features garter stitch with a few simple eyelet sections.  If you need a relaxing, effortless project, check it out.

This sample used Lillian held with Shimmer both in Shocking.  The shawl is substantial, and you'll need two skeins of each base.  Go bold or choose something more subdued.  There are plenty of colors to choose from.

There are more new things in the works for New England Farm and Fiber Festival on February 2.  Follow the link for event details.  Note that this is a ticketed event.

I'm in the mood for bright colors right now - must be the grey days.  This week's color inspiration . . .

A Cozy Weekend

There's a lot of show prep happening in the background, and it's great to be busy again.  Things got off to a rough start, but I rallied and had a productive week in spite of everything.

I'm looking forward to a cozy weekend.  And yes, that includes plenty of time for knitting.

This week's color inspiration comes from my son and a recent adventure.

Calendar Update

Just like that it's 2025!  I hope you had a good holiday season if you were celebrating.  I always enjoy the hustle and bustle, but this year transitioning to a normal routine has been a slow process.

We have a busy winter calendar with several events.  Check the right sidebar for the latest update.

On January 19, we'll be at Farm Fiber Day.  This bustling winter fiber market has become a favorite with many.  Be sure to check it out if you're in the Boston area.  Follow the link for details.

There's been a lot of knitting going on behind the scenes, and that means finished projects.

Colourblock Mittens (Ravelry link).  It's mitten season, and this fun pattern knits up quickly.  We'll have kits in a variety of colors available at the winter events.

I haven't forgotten about the blog, but life has been extra busy.  Things have settled down for the moment, and I plan to check in on a regular basis again.

December!

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend.

It's December (how did that happen!), and I've updated events in the right sidebar.  First up is this Saturday, December 7, at Black Sheep Knitting.  I'll be in the shop 1:00 - 5:00.  There will be yarn, kits and samples.  Stop by if you're in the Boston area.

I worked on several new projects over the weekend, and I even helped my daughter with her own project.

She wants to make Musselburgh (Ravelry link).  I took care of the fiddly start.  Now the rest is up to her.  If you haven't made this hat yet, take a look at the pattern.  Yes, it takes a little time to get it up and running, but after that it's easy peasy.  Plus there are so many options . . . colors, stripes, weights of yarn.  Have fun!

Project Testing

I've been busy dyeing yarn and shipping orders.  It's been a productive week, so I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

I cast on this combo the other day and have been working on it here and there.

Sometimes I test a project to see if the yarn, pattern and colors will work.  I need to knit a little more, but I think this project will be a go.  I'll know more by Monday.

We're at that point in the fall where most of the leaves have already fallen, but it's nice to look back just a few weeks when they were at their peak.  This week's color inspiration . . .

Bright yellow and orange.

The Fall Wave

It's been a minute, but I haven't forgotten about the blog. My fall travels are over, and the big fiber festivals are in the books.  I'm slowly settling in to a different routine.  While I miss being on the go, this is a good time to focus on the home front.

Without all the coming and going, I have more time to plot and plan new samples.  And more time for knitting.  I feel my annual fall wave of castonitis coming on.

This is another Musselburgh (Ravelry link).  A family member requested this hat, and I decided to get it up and running.  Once it's all situated, this is an easy project to pick up and put down.

My list of new projects is long, and I've been playing with color options.  What projects have captured your attention recently?
