Black and White Mystery

I'm working on a couple deadlines this week.

One of them happens to be a secret, so black and white is all you get.  You can see that garter and stripes are involved, but the rest is all a mystery.  It's been a fun, relaxing project.  Stay tuned.  I'll share the details at a later date.

Colorful Options

First of all, thanks to everyone who stopped by the SPA Zoom session on Saturday.  It was fun to see so many familiar faces.

Elizabeth Smith gave an interesting presentation complete with a few swatching tips.  Her talk definitely encouraged interesting questions and discussions.  Thanks also to everyone who placed an order over the weekend.  Busy shipping week ahead.

I have a few new projects at the top of my list, and I'm contemplating color options.

I can easily stay in my comfortable gray zone, but this time of year usually calls for something a little more colorful.  Maybe this combo will make the final cut.

I'm delighted with this shawl.  The colors, the combinations, the stripes, the texture, the lace.  I love the way it all came together.

I used a Lillian Bundle in the colorway Old Brown Dog.

While I'm weaving in ends, I'm gearing up for the next project.

Maine Woods Hat

On Friday I was on a hat brim hump, but I got over that and kept right on going. 

Maine Woods Hat.  Stranded colorwork often falls into the just one more round category.  I hit the colorwork section and didn't stop until the hat was off the needles.

This design offers three sizes and includes instructions for both a folded brim and a regular brim.  I used a tubular cast on and followed the pattern as written.

The yarn is the Norma Bundle in the Vermont colorway.  There are several color combinations available on the website.

Event update.  The virtual version of SPA is happening this weekend.  I'll have more details later in the week.

The Way It Works

Color update.  I'm still trying to sort out my color choices from earlier this week.  I added to the confusion by dyeing a couple more colors to throw into the mix.  I'll ponder my options for another day or two.

I always need a hat on the go.  Since I had finished all my hats under construction, I cast on a new one.

This is Maine Woods Hat.  I decided to make the longer folded brim, but I'm stuck.  It's the same feeling I have when my truck is stuck in the snow.  I give it some gas, but I don't go anywhere.

With this hat, I keep knitting and knitting, but the brim doesn't get any longer.  I know this is a common predicament for knitters.  I'm sure that at some point I'll measure the brim, and it'll be too long.  That's just the way it works.

I enjoy winter and make a point to get out and about.  This week's color inspiration came from one of my winter walks.

On the Table

I always have new projects in the works, and right now I'm focused on one that has a fast approaching deadline.

Picking colors is always fun, so to get things started I pulled a few skeins.  There are usually twists and turns along the way, and I'll probably end up with something that's not even on the table yet.  It's all part of the process.
