Looking for Comfort

I've been in a fog the last few days, and I'm feeling exhausted, sad and angry after another week of tragedy.  I took a little time this morning to hit the reset button.

As many of you know, knitting can be a great source of comfort when the world is upside down.  I've had a mindless project waiting in the wings, so today I pulled a few color options.

May we all find comfort.

This week's color inspiration . . .

Vibrant.

Summer KAL

We've teamed up with Salt Yarn Studio on another summer project.

Rock It Tee Kits + KAL are available now on the Salt Yarn website.  There are several color combinations and a couple different fiber options.  We've also included four Zoom KAL sessions.  Join us for project help or just to hang with other knitters.

I'll be at Salt Yarn Studio on June 11.  If you're local to the shop, you can pick up your kit then.  If not, we'll ship it.  You'll find all the details on the Salt Yarn website.

Looking Ahead to Maine

Welcome to a new week.  I'm starting things off with a little event publicity.

Maine Fiber Frolic.  This is the last of the New England spring fiber festivals.  I'll be there with an awesome group of vendors representing a wide range of fiber arts.

If you're in the market for fiber equipment, take a peek at the Used Equipment Area.  There's usually a large selection at reasonable prices.  This is a fun festival for the whole family.  Be sure to check the event website for more information.

Matching the Season

We've definitely had a taste of summer weather already, and I've noticed a shift in the colors coming out of the dye pots.

These colors match the season.

This week's color inspiration . . .

A cheerful combination.

Getting Antsy

With one project about to come off the needles, I started to get a little antsy.  You know the feeling.  Your current project is already in the rearview mirror, and you give in to the anticipation of casting on something new.

More stripes.  I made a deal with myself.  I'm taking just enough time to get this new project up and running, and then I'll wrap up the one that's almost finished.  With any luck, I don't get distracted.

Recovering

I'm cutting myself some slack today while I recover from a busy weekend in New Hampshire.  It was wicked hot this weekend.  I've experienced all sorts of weather at this event (including snow) but never anything close to these high temps.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth.  As always, it was great fun to chat about yarn, patterns and colors - even though it was a million degrees.

My plans for the afternoon including working on my overflowing inbox and knitting a few rows.  I hope your week is off to a good start.

Show Prep

I might fall asleep sitting at my desk, but the end is in sight.  I've cranked out a lot of dyeing the last couple weeks.  Almost everything on the dyeing list is checked off, so it's time to get busy with labels.

I'm about to tackle several big mounds like this, but I should probably have some coffee first.  See above reference to falling asleep.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend in New Hampshire.  If you want to follow along, check our Instagram feed.  Once our booth is up and running, I'll also be posting details about our exact location.  I think the weather is going to cooperate.  It should be a fun weekend!

Calendar Updates

This is a busy time of year, and the days are flying by.  I'll be out and about for two events this month.  In addition to New Hampshire Sheep and Wool on May 14 and 15, I'll also be at Inman Eats and Crafts on May 22.  If you're in the Boston area, be sure to check out this event in Cambridge.

As always, follow the links for more details including vendor information.

Joyful shawl

It's Friday (finally!), and I'm wrapping up the week with a sample spotlight.  I finished this shawl recently, and it made its debut last Saturday in Connecticut.

Joyful shawl.  This was my on-the-go project for a while.  Garter stitch with simple stripes . . . easy to pick up and put down.  I don't know about you, but these days I definitely need a relaxing project on the needles.

The yarn is Lillian Sport in Beet Red, March Sky and Moon Shadow.  I really enjoy working with this base.  Now I need to find another sport weight project.

This week's color inspiration . . .

Blue from top to bottom.

The Little Things

Today has been filled with a lot of dyeing and too many interruptions to count.  When I looked at my to-do list this morning, I could swear there was a chunk of time available for knitting.  Somehow it never materialized.  See above reference to interruptions.

This afternoon when I finally sat down to assess the situation, I was determined to find something positive to show for the day.  I settled on this.

It's not much, but it means there's yarn ready and waiting for an adventure.  Some days it's the little things that get me through.

A Productive Monday

I've recovered from a busy weekend in Connecticut.  The dyeing schedule has been updated, and I've tackled a few emails.  I even tidied the kitchen and did a load of laundry.  I'm feeling mighty productive.

If you missed the fiber party in Connecticut, New Hampshire Sheep and Wool is right around the corner.  Remember the dates are May 14 and 15 - not the traditional Mother's Day Weekend this time around.

As expected, I didn't get any knitting done while I was on the road this weekend.  Not one stitch.

To make up for it, I'm carving out a little knitting time today.  Hope your week is off to a good start!
