Happy May Day! May Day celebrations have roots in pagan rituals and the movement for workers' rights. For me this day symbolizes spring, fertility, the International Workers' Day and political demonstrations. We're headed to our annual May Day celebration where the festivities include a picnic, sack races, a couple games of pull-for-peace (the pacifist version of tug-of-war) and a traditional Maypole dance.
To mark the occasion I'm running a contest. Leave a comment here and tell us what you're knitting these days. I'm always looking at patterns, and your comments might highlight a design I haven't stumbled across yet. The winner, chosen at random, will receive a skein of yarn from Dirty Water DyeWorks - winner's choice. The contest closes on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
If you're headed to Maryland Sheep & Wool this weekend, you'll find a selection of yarn from Dirty Water DyeWorks in the Spin-A-Bit booth - Main Exhibition Hall, B8. Be sure to take a look at the Spin-A-Bit fibers while you're there. I would love to go to Maryland but having my yarn there is the next best thing.

I'm knitting the ZIG ZAG shawl right now. Love seeing the colors change. Not sure what will happen to it when I'm done - probably go into the growing pile!
I am knitting the Eiffel Tower shawl!
I'm knitting this http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/auber along with 14 other patterns. I tend to have a lot of WIP. LOL! I finally knitted a skein of your yarn I got at Rhinebeck in 2011 here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/AP4C/mizzle It quick got "stolen" by my youngest.
I am knitting Sundry by Jennifer Dassau.

I am using your beautiful Edna in Moonshadow and Slate....I picked up a skein of Dijon as well since I couldn't decide which to use. I went to my LYS to find a coordinating skein for something else I had and she showed me your yarn and well.....I ditched my previous plan and glad I did! I look forward to casting on another project with your yarn:) Happy May Day!
I am going to be a Nana for the first time this July. So I am completely into knitting baby things. Right now I am knitting garter yoke baby cardi along with basic baby hat from
Ravelry. Planning on starting Organic Heirloom baby blanket.
I also knitting a Yvaine shawl (free ravelry pattern)using a beautiful skein of your Bertha yarn.
Keep up the good work....love you yarn!
I am knitting just some plain socks, toe-up for my mom for Mother's Day.
I'm knitting some fingerless mitts. I even did a WIP Wednesday post on them today, http://sheilaokeefedesigns.blogspot.com/2013/05/wip-wednesday.html
I have a wip problem. At the moment on the needles are: Peasy (sweater for me), momijigari (by Beth Kline, shawl for me), waterfall socks (toe up converted to top down), buttons cardigan (baby sweater), and another pair of socks, but I can't remember the pattern name.
BTW, I keep eyeing your special skeins and thinking color affection.... but not sure a third color. Perhaps you have a recommendation? See you at NHSheep&Wool.
I'm working on a Derecho shawl by Laura Aylor. While I love the pattern, I really love the fact that all 3 yarns came from 3 different stops on the Great Rhody yarn crawl!!
I'm knitting a Tomten jacket for a friend's baby, and plotting what I want to start next.
Might be at Sheep and Wool this weekend--if we go, I'll stop by and say Hi!
I'm knitting my 2nd Zuni shawl, it's a fun knit, and hand dyed wool makes it look great.
I have a bajillion WIPs right now but in my bag is Chuck by Andi Satterlund in a super bright neon pink! Yay Spring!
I'm knitting the Clarity cardigan and a pair of socks, but spring has brought on an EXTREME case of Startitis, and I've been eying the Orkney Sweater and Sugar Maple top.
I'm working on a huge pile of snowflake mittens, rewritten to accommodate the gauge of a worsted weight yarn. Thus far I've used NHM #5, #2, and #12 from Selbuvotter. I've also made a lovely version of DROPS 110-39.
I'm knitting a Color Affection for me (from a kit I bought at MDSW last year; stash guilt got to me) and a Clapotis as a gift. But I've also got a sweater of my own design on the needles that's calling to me....
Somehow I missed seeing your yarn at MDSW this year! Waaaaaaah! Of course, that just means I have to go to Rhinebeck, right?!?!
Knitting another "Kaleidoscope of Color" circular shawl...my entry to The Fiber Factor Swatch-along contest. I love knitting this with different colors and creating something new and different each time! http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kaleidoscope-of-color
Hi Stephanie,
I'm knitting Mary Scott Huff's Regnbue Cardigan and Lopi's Strik scarf. I have to cast on my DWDW Brioche scarf this month.
It was really fun meeting and talking with you (and fondling your yarns) at the first "little e" in Greenfield, Mass. Thank you for your wonderful colors and personal graciousness. I am still dreaming of what to create with my skein of Edna in Juniper.
At the moment, I am knitting a baby "Blossom Bolero" (by StitchyMama) for a soon-to-be one yr. old. I also have Wendy Johnson's "On Hold" toe up socks OTN, my first toe up socks. (I won't mention my other 84 wips.)
Looking forward to more of your yarny goodness!
Cynthia
I'm working on Viajante. Six rows to go!
Sadly, I'm knitting dishcloths mostly. It's about all my brain can handle right now...there's just no space in there for anything more.
I am knitting the Churchmouse Designs Shoulder Cozy in Tiara. It takes two skeins, is elegantly simple and ridiculously fast. It makes a lovely circular shawl which is breathtaking with its touch of a sparkle. A lovely gift.
Next , I will be making the Pikabeau scarf in Dirtywater Carnation. I am really looking forwad to this pretty diagonal lacy pattern!
I am ALWAYS knitting baby hats, sweaters and booties/socks. I am also currently knitting the "Lacy Rib Cowl" for my sister-in-law's birthday. Thank you for the lovely giveaway!
Just finished a cat for my grandson.(he's 13months)
Now working on a monster toy
I'm knitting a shawl by Lauren Frehel, KIND OF BLUE. Love the pattern she has a esty shop with yarn & pattern's.
I'm knitting Old Town by Sunday Knits. It's a classic style care that I hope gets lots of wear.
